Hi, this is the first game I have posted so I dunno how well it will work, but I will try.

Please post on how you think that I could have imporved this game. Anything that you think I could have done better.

Warjacks

Don't see why White didn't 17.Bxc5 for the b4 knight.......

spherenine

I dig that mate, man.

Nice and semi-smothered.

because the bishop is protecting the c7 square so the Knight can pull of the fork. i guess

I think you should have took controll of the center quickly by playing d4 instead of d3.

Also, don't develop your knights on the edge. It is very uneffective. A knight on the rim is dim.

The person who started this forum was playing black.

both white and black made an error on 15. i think  nb5 could be countered by a6 and a piece is lost.

a6 forces his knight to move, I dont want him to move his knight so that I can bait him with a fork in a few moves.

I haven't analyzed this much but I liked the look of:

18 ....Nxc2+

19 Kd2 Ngxe3 (threatening rook)

20 (rook move) a6

This leaves both your knights choking the area around his king and threatens both his knight and black bishop.

Of course, I may have missed something obvious.

Kasbe

A beautiful mate, after all.

gabrielconroy

It's a nice mate, but like others have said, there are a lot of sloppy moves throughout. White could have played 17. Bxc5+ and won your knight on b4 (discovered check from the rook on d1).

I would have followed with Kc6, then threatening his Knight, only a pawn is won, and he looses the chance to fork.

gabrielconroy

Actually, you're right, sorry. But still, I would have played Bxc5+ anyway, and the game would have been wide open, with your king open in the middle of the board. It's not as bad as I thought, though.

I would haev (as black) done 17Nc7

MadnessRed

which would have most likely followed

Nc7        e3
fxe3    Nf6 (if not fxe3, then Nc2#)
Nxa8    Ne4 (Nxa8 assumed as is Nxe8 puts his Knight under threat)
***        Nc2# (Hopefully not R[abc]1 or it all failed)

You said the knight is worth more than a bishop in your annotations..

That is wrong.

I think it is more a matter of opinion really. With higher ranked players a bishois probably worth more, however a knight attack is less obvious making it more powerful against lower ranked players, who don't look into the game as deeply as higher ranked players.
