I would like to know what i could have done better.Honestly, I'd say you didn't pick the best game to analyse. Your opponent made some weak tactical moves and you took advantage of them. Personally I find it's a better idea to analyse very close games that you lost, but are slightly unsure of how. In your case it's quite obvious, why you won.
It isn't a bad way. I personally prefer this variation; this is just out of personal preference and may not be the theoretically best way to play:
Obviously, Black made some pretty bad moves in this game; how else do you lose in 18 moves! But you made a few yourself. 10.Qa4 was an error. You underestimated the weakness of your own kingside. If Black had played 10...Qxg2 11.Qxa6 Qxh1+ you would have been unhappy. Also, you should have played 11.Qxa6 instead of 11.Nc3, when Black could still play 11...Qxg2
After 12...Rd8? (Bb7 was bad, but not this bad!) it was all over.
