I saw errors earlier, but I started to feel like you had a real advantage only after comp played 18. ... c5. 20. qd3 was exceptionally bad because it allows rd7 with gain of tempo (ie a free move) which black wants to play anyway. E5 right away is much better. 21. e5 is not nearly as good because your pawn structure is bad enough that an ending cannot be what you want. The fewer pieces on the board, the easier it is to target weak pawns like c3 and c4. 22. h3 is a totally wasted move. Its time for a plan. Rb1 or qe2 are at least useful moves, although a full plan is elusive for me. Once you get control of the dfile with 27. rd7, the position might look good, but remember you can't afford to trade off all the heavy pieces, you'll lose easily. So you need to find a winning plan before black can make that happen -- 30. Rc7 is not good enough. 30. Qd6! was -- black is helpless and losing material.
Hi,
I was down one pawn on the game, so I closed up the positions and drew against the computer (Chess Free, level 11). How could I have won it? Please give me some pointers for improvement.
