You need to create a new database and add/import games to it. Of course, you can have multiple databases but once the database has been created and you have saved games to it, you can open the next time you are in the program and all those games will be there.

The clipbase is just a temporary database.

Where do you go to create a new database? I have been scrolling and looking for a add database option and cant find one. I even tryed putting the pgns into the bases folder. thanks for the reply.

File -> New and name it whatever you want and place it wherever you want to store the databases. That will actually create 3 files: one with the si4 extension (the indexes I think), one with sg4 (the game data), and one with sn4 (name file -- players, events etc).

While the program can open PGN files, they are in a read-only state and to do any really useful you need to import them into databases.

There is some documentation on their sourceforge page: http://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/doc/Contents.htm
