p-worry

bishop takes rook check knight to a3 checkmate

p-worry

 i meant c3

khronos

It seems all right but its a mate in three and problem says mate in 2 Cry

Is there a way to do mate in 2 or is it an author's mistake?

(I'm off for now I'll be back tomorrow )

Nightshadow

It's quite simple.

1.Ned3. Whatever Black plays, it's mate next.

Rd6#

p-worry your solution doesn't work after bishop takes rook, king takes bishop and after knight to c3, king goes to c6.

khronos

Nightshadow I don't understand Ned3?

Nightshadow

Woops! Sorry! Nde3. It's 3:30 am here so yeah I'm a little tired....

ZION-DAVID

HELLO

ONE OF THE WHITE KNIGHT CHECK THE KING AND THE BLACK QUEEN MUST EAT

THEN THR OTHER KNIGHT WILL CHECK MATE

Nightshadow

The other knight is pinned to the King.

Nightshadow

The solution is Nde3 I'm pretty sure. If there's a mistake I'm sure someone will point it out.

omnipaul

I think you're right, Nightshadow.  The only problem I see is that Black could block the Rook move with the Bishop, but that opens up Ne7# as the Knight is no longer pinned and the other Knight blocks the Queen from capturing on e7.

Nightshadow

Yes it does open Ne7# doesn't it? These kind of puzzles tend to have such convenient resources...

Escapest_Pawn

Ned3 fails to ...Nc4

Does Nc3 work?

Nightshadow

If Nc4 then Ne7 is mate again
