Help with Notation Please

I am a beginning Chess player, and I am reading a book by Silman. I have just started the book, and have been able to understand notation so far. The issue I am having is with the notation Bxb5+ c6. I know that this means Bishop takes the piece on b5 and places the King in check, but I am not sure what the c6 means. The reason I am confused is because the King is located on e8 in the diagram. So, my initial guess that c6 stood for the location of the King cannot be correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

c6 means that the c-pawn moved to c6.

Pawns are not specified except when capturing, and then they are referred to by the file they occupied at the start of the move.

c6=Pawn moved to c6 square

             The white bishop, would put the king in check, if there's nothing on B7

            Silman's books don't usually have mistakes in them. Older books have mistakes in them.
