How do I launch a queenside pawn attack and win?(be faster than opponent king attack)

This is common for white in the KID and Caro Kann exchange variation. While the opponent attacks the king, you counter attack in the queenside. However, in the KID, the queenside structure is almost symmetrical, how do I break through and get passed pawns before black attacks my king? (Pls tell me ideas and common lines in these positions)
