1. Nxe6+ Qxe6 2. Qxb7 wins a pawn.
How do I proceed?
Win a pawn and trade pieces. 1.Nxe6 Qxe6 2.Qxb7. You're up the exchange, and a pawn, and his king is airy, and there are open files, and his queenside pawns are weak--this position is hard to lose, although you must be careful to avoid perpetual checks.
I am white. It is my move. I am playing a superior player. I think I have outplayed him to this point. Unfortunately, I lose the game. This is where I think I go wrong. If you have time, please offer some insight as to how you would have proceeded from here.
Thanks for your time.
you are a loser you cant beat paul!
At first glance I see
1.Re1 attack black's Ne3 while taking control of the half open e-file and theaten e6
Once black move his knight to safety 1...Nf5 then 2.Nxe6+! forking King & c5 square. Black move his king out of check 2...g8 best (if 2...e7?? or e8?? then 3.Nc5 dis+ and lose Queen with 4.Nxd7) 3.Nc5 double attack Bb7 and forking Qd7... white win the bishop ![]()
Actually, as opposed to everyone else, I think there might be a better move. It pins the queen to the knight, and ultimately leads to either a trade, or a queen swap. Either way, I think it puts you in a much better position:
2nd long post lost
1)Nxe6 QxNe6
2)QxBb7
now if
2)...Nxg2
3)KxNg2 Qe2+ regains the exchange for black again after a series of checks so 3)Qb8+ Kg7
4)Qg3 and his knight really has to fall after, if he returns to e3, 5)Re1
A more interesting black try is declining the knight:
1)Nxe6 Kg1
2)Nc5 Qg4 3)Qc2 NxQ 3)Rc2 Qd1+ 4)Kf2 NxRc2+ [queen takes rook simplifies with QxQ and you will have the pawns] you then take his bishop probably with your queen and he gets in several more possibly profitable checks. 3)g3?? Qe2 4)Rc2 Qe1# and of course 4)Qc2 loses your queen, so
3)Kf2 which at first glance you really don't want to do but you maybe able to get away with it.
Point being, when ahead in material, get or keep control of the board rather than gain more material. Don't let your oponent turn it into a crap shoot.
