iirc its against the rules to give analysis of ongoing games isn't it? unless you've since finished this game ...

In my defense, nothing I said about it was useful to the current position.

But I understand deleting it as it's a pretty thin line between what comment may or may not be useful.  Sorry about that Tongue out

Some major problems:

1. You didn't develop your pieces to squares where they can attack in the opening.

2. You blocked in your pieces once they are partly developed.

3. You missed some tactics, i.e. pin and discovered check in game one as wafflemaster pointed out.  Check out Tactics Trainer.

4. Had your pieces been in good active squares, in the second game you could have launched an attack on his kingside with your semiopen b-file and 2 a-pawns to push.

Too many anti positional moves gave you a bad postition, which you didn't play accurate enough.

thx everyone. Apparently I need to do some more work on my openings- possibly because I really don't have an opening that I generally do every time...

I don't know, but your king doesn't look happy.

Avatar of stocke

also I did not know that games in progress were not allowed. I'm new if you'll look at the Member since thing.

Move 1 = good

Move 2 = good

Move 3 = weakening your position, it takes scope away from your queen, and a sqaure away from your knight

Move 4 = weakening your position. Yes it develops a bishop, but it blocks your pawn from advancing which cramps you down.

Move 5 = knights are weaker on the rim, but you did not have many options from your previous errors.

Move 6 = castling seems ok at this point

Move 7 = seems like a good idea to get your bishop out

Move 8 = stop being a retard you undeveloped your knight for no good reason at all

Move 9 = makes sense of move 8, but you have no follow through on this attack making it pointless

Move 10 = ok I guess you are trying to uncramp yourself

Move 11 = that is only useful if he takes with the knight and he won't

Move 12 = a good idea to reposition that knight it was in a weak square

Move 13 hangs your knight

Everything after that point is him just grinding you down not much you could have done and you were in a resignable position

This is what I saw:

If you don't already, you should do some tactics training, and learn some of the basic positional ideas (knight on the rim is dim [usually], control the center, develop knights before bishops, etc)

I think a big mistake in the opening was playing Nc6 before c5,because you had less space and it was harder to break down the pawn chain.

Avatar of blobby12

You also should of tried for a f6 break instead of Nh6,or maybe even in some later positions you could of tried for a f6 break.

Avatar of Im_Yoona

Hmm. Try not to play f6 in the opening it takes away a very good square for your knight.

If it helps any, your opponent in Game 1 missed 21. Qf8#; he played Qxd6.
