Is a great move better than a best move?

Also, a brilliant move is a move that sacrifices a piece but is the best move regardless

Brilliant move: a move that's the best or almost the best move in a given position, and is also special in some way. Brilliant moves are often strong sacrifices of a piece or an exchange.
Great move: a move that is critical to the outcome of the game, such as turning a losing position into a winning one
Best move: a move that is the only move that benefits, often when there are little options

None of what you said is true.

A "brilliant move" is considered better than a "great move" because "brilliant" implies a higher level of ingenuity and complexity, while "great" is a more general term of praise for a good move, often used for moves that are simply strong or well-executed, but not necessarily exceptionally creative.

Why do you even care magipi?

How much elo do you have?

Do you want to battle because I can beat you for a fact?

If you don't want to battle then shut up.

When I say shut up I meant it not in a bad way but for you to be quiet

It might take you a while to read this, but if you do.

Let me tell you this...

You suck

And its nice if you like chess analysis Chessian-Ian

Peace out

shresthnair123

by the way if you say somethings wrong

I used google

shresthnair123

oh and I went on the wrong one

but anyway

a great move is way better than a best move because if you are losing and you find a really good move

and you get it

you can literally change the game for you to make a draw or a winning position

whereas the best move won't do that good

so use your brains everyone.

When I do a creative move and have a mate plan that works it's called a mistake

A great move is the only good/reasonable move in any given position, regardless of how obvious it is. If other moves are okay as well, then it's just "best."

On very rare occasions, it's used for brilliant sacrifices that are especially common and have lost a bit of their shock value as a result. For example, the queen sacrifice for a smothered mate usually only gets a "!" - if it does get the brilliant tag, it will most likely change to "!" or "Best" later. A sacrifice that is not forced and doesn't severely alter the game, but is nonetheless very good, may also receive only a "!".

Nice, Fr3nchToastCrunch

A great move in chess is a move that is critical to the outcome of the game, such as turning a losing position into a winning one.A "best move" in chess is the move that, according to the current position on the board, provides the most advantageous outcome, typically determined by chess engines as the move that gives the player the greatest positional advantage with the least risk, essentially the optimal move in a given situation

Also, a brilliant move is a move that is unexpected, ingenious, and has a significant impact on the game. It is a move that is beyond the typical or expected moves and requires deep thinking and strategic planning.

I am also sorry that it takes so long to read these posts

Great moves are the only move that would stop a draw or is the good move you have in a position meanwhile best is the best move but not the only move that works well

Memberships are based on accounts. If your account is created using a school-based email you would probably want to change to a different address or you could lose access to your account when you're not longer in school

Actually Best is better SOMETIMES. Once I was doing a game review and my opponent found mate in 2 in a tangled situation, he had mate in one, and they said his mate in 2 find "Great" and I looked and him finding mate in 1 would have been best. but usually great is better, but when there is a great that would be better than best, the "Best" would not be excellent, and you are missing the best move, and thus it would be a miss, or worse.

As stated above, all best moves are not equal, a recapture can be a best move ,but it is also very easy to assess. A great move is usually a best move that was not an easy assessment. So a great move can be thought of as the best move in a position that was not a straight foreword choice and could be reasonably overlooked.
