Against your opponent using the analysis board is not cheating.
Against yourself and assuming your goal is to improve your calculation-evaluation skills then using an analysis board is cheating yourself.

Maybe if you *only* use the analysis board. What I recommend to everyone is to decide on a move without the analysis board, using only mental calculation. Commit to your move by writing it down or however you want to. Following that, use the analysis board to your heart's content, and find what you believe is the actual best move. Note the things you missed when you did your first analysis and see if you can figure out why you missed them. Only then do you actually make your move.
This gives you the best of both worlds. Doing this works on your mental calculation and does an even better job of improving your skills since you get more feedback and can improve your self-critique with the analaysis board afterwards. It also allows you to perform at your absolute best in the correspondence game itself, probably even better than you would have with the analysis board only.
It's more work, sure, but getting better at chess is absolutely about the work you put in.
So if you move pieces you dont have to calculate?
Precisely! That is exactly what I am saying. Moving pieces in your head requires work and the exercise of brain functions that visualize and simulate future possibilities. Using the analysis board to move the pieces instead of your mind cheats yourself out of this hard work.
So basically if you move pieces all the possible moves, tactics and positional plans, advantages and disadvantages just pop out of nowhere into your head? You dont have to think at all?! WOW. Didnt know that!!!
I didn't say you didn't have to think! Maybe you are confusing "calculation" with "evaluation." In chess we refer to the concrete visualization of future possibilities and likely responses as "calculation" and the static evaluation of a current position as "evaluation." I will forgive you as english is not your first language.
Isnt that exactly what you do in correspondence chess? You still have an opponent that will respond, even if it takes a while.
This forum is a perma joke. If you want to improve your mental calculation skills. KEY WORD mental. Go play live chess, not correspondence.
Or do as I said in post #44 and do both improve your mental calculation and play correspondence. It's perfectly possible.

My friend, sorry if I said so directly, but you are the joke here, not the discussion. Correspondence chess (here called Daily Chess) is conceived to explore opening repertoires, to go much deeper in a position than in a rapid game, and analysis board is part of the game. You can defend your opinion, but you should not offend anybody who has a different opinion.

That is exactly what I said. I wont discuss about whether we should offend or not people.
The good thing about "cheating" is it's not subjective.
Using an analysis board or an openings databease for daily chess is not cheating. If you disagree with that, then you don't understand what "cheating" means.
One of the big things in daily chess is to improve your understanding of your opening choices and to improve strategy and tactics, and you are allowed to consult opening books and databases and to play out your games on a spare board. I use the "Create your own game" board on Lucas Chess to experiment with variations, making sure not to hit the "Help to Move" button.
I'm definitely improving, though it doesn't show in my rating, because I'm also experimenting with new Openings I've never played before and with more aggressive strategies, which have got me in trouble more often than not, but I think it's the way to improve for me for the long-term.
Are you allowed to use engine analysis for miscellaneous purposes while a daily game is currently ongoing? I asked this in a different forum to no avail. The chess.com policy seems to be that engine use of any kind (regardless of intent or context) during the duration of a daily game is prohibited, which is frankly insane if it’s true.
Am I not allowed to study general concepts, an opening I’m learning, or even use game review? Should I stop watching any kind of videos (even if for entertainment purposes) that have an engine involved? I have searched dozens of answers and they all seem to declare an unconditional no-engine stance, without clarifying usage for miscellaneous purposes.
#45. The game has me dribbling out of both sides of my mouth. How about 43. ... Qe4
As maybe the d3,d2 threat along with the triple on the e-file is faster than the white mate threat?
Certainly, when both sides have mating threats at the same time the study board is needed as it is so easy to lose track of tempo's ie what has happened on the h-file and has the knight on a5 moved or is it helping the white queen oppose on the h1-a8 diagonal.
