Is the "Deep Analisys" feature worth it?

Hi there. Wasn't sure which forum to post this in, I'm sorry if this is the wrong one.

So I want to get a premium account and I'm choosing between Gold and Platinum. I don't really need that much lessons and other stuff which the Platinum offers, but it has "Deep computer analisys". So how much more useful is it? Does it make a difference if I'm rated mid-1500 in the rapid?

I just did the trial diamond membership, and as a USCF B player, im sure the deep analysis is better than what i could come up with.  I havent compared it with any chess engines, so i have no clue as to its strength.  But i would imagine it would be acceptable to pretty much anyone.

Or you could, you know, learn about chess engines, download a free one for your pc (you technically need both a chess engine and an interface program, but some programs include both), and cut and paste the pgn from your chess.com games and stick it in there.  Some learning and work there, but its free.

Well, I could find free tactics puzzles and chess lessons too, that's not what I was asking about. Besides, I do have a chess engine installed. It's more convenient when it's all in one place and integrated with each other, I'm willing to pay for that, granted it's a reasonable price.

No

Ok, I've made up my mind, Gold it is then, thank you guys!

Saleron, good luck with whatever you finally choose.

To the others, let's not start comparing chess.com with any of its competitors.

One time in a ten minute game it told me I missed a mate in 12. Totally worth it. Remember... you never lose when you learn! (And when you can calculate mate in 12 in eight seconds!)

Not really, the difference between running stockfish for 4 secounds per move vs 1 is not that great. There are some differences when comparing the two evaluations but even with full access to the feature I still rarely use it, simply because it takes too long and improves the analysis too little.

If i wanted a in depth evaluation I wouldn't rely on a javascript implementation of stockfish running within a browser, I'd just get the damn engine and run it the way it was meant to be used.

I think analysis behind a paywall is pretty lame, and I say that as a diamond member. I don't pay for Stockfish access, I pay for the actual content like lessons and videos.

Frankly, their implementation of JS Stockfish is inferior anyway. The Chrome-only NativeClient ("NaCl") implementation that e.g. Lichess uses achieves much higher nodes-per-second throughput. Pure JS, even ASMJS, only achieves a fraction of native, at best 1/3 or 1/4.

Yeah, based on your OP, I think gold suits you fine, and you can do Deep Analysis with gold membership, anyway wink.png

Talking about them is OK, advertising other sites is not OK. The site's CEO(?) himself (Erik) posted just a few days about this. But some moderators are over-the-top strict in some cases. Perhaps some of them need some mod-training

IMO it's a sign of weakness and insecurity, like the controlling boyfriend who throws a fit every time his GF says two words to another man.

Quit being a creeper, Chess.com

Does anyone have a sample PGN of what it looks like with Deep Analysis?

It's exactly like the Quick Analysis that you (free members) can perform, only a little better/deeper cause it takes twice the time

 Thanks Eseles.
