Is this chess notation incorrect?

In "Ten steps to learn Chess Tactics and Combinations" by Dave Regis, I have been trying to understand this game which seems to be notated wrong. Am I reading it wrong? 

I dont understand 5. d4 exd3

 

Jackson,J - Kozlov,V [C40] corr Atars mem, 1993

1.e4 e5

2.Nf3 f5

3.Nc3 fxe4

4.Nxe5 Qf6

5.d4 exd3

6.Nxd3 Qe6+

7.Qe2 Qxe2+

8.Bxe2 Bb4?

9. Nxb4 1-0

It works in PGN. You must not be familiar with the en passsant rule of pawn captures.

Thanks Sqod! You're right, I did not know how they notated en passant and now I do!

usually, they add a parenthetical e.p. or en passant or something
