La la la WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!

I'm not the greatest chess player, but I try. I try to be a good girl and follow the rules and recommendations and dos and don'ts. So I'm playing this game, just doing book moves, and then my opponent makes this really weird move on move 11. Knight off to the corner and the side of the board next to their king. Against all the dos and don'ts I ever heard of. I know this is a warning sometimes that a trap is coming, but I look it over and see nothing. So I castle.
And holy freakin' moly, they play another out-of-the-freakin' blue pawn move on 12, and it looks like my bishop is a goner.
HOW THE HECK WAS I SUPPOSED TO SEE THAT?!
So I got angry and spent an hour or so analyzing and trying every way possible to save the bishop. There are traps everywhere. I can't move my queen here or there because of knights and oh my god it's horrible.
I finally find a combination where I have to trade away almost all the minor pieces, and I still lose the bishop, but I end up even and maybe even a little ahead. As far as I was concerned, the main part of the game was over when, on move 17, I used my queen to put him in check. That may not have been my best choice, but I considered it punishment for his hubris at mugging me in a meadow like that. I honestly didn't care if I won or lost at that point (I ended up winning).
I mean, the analyzer acknowledged that move 11 was bad on his part and that I should have done something other than castle on 12. It was blaming me for not taking better advantage of his bad move, but seriously?
Anyway, I wanted to share this game and maybe get some comments. I think I learned a lot from this game, but I can't quite put into words what yet.

The pattern of trapping a B with pawns that way is not uncommon. You survived it, so you should subconsciously be aware of the possibility from now on.

Don't feel bad about not perceiving the threat this time. We all get chess lessons in the same the hard way. Good luck in your chess journey.

Sometimes these things happen you have to keep your eyes and mind open and 100% focus on game only ..so you'll be able to see those traps
