The simple threat here is 27.Bxb6 where the a-pawn is pinned. But what if Black plays 26...Bxd4+ 27.Nxd4+ Ke5? What would be the problem here?

After your line 26...Bxd4+ 27.Nxd4+ Ke5 white still picks up a full piece with 28. Ra5+
However black could play 26...Nc5 instead. Aside from further calculation, the problem then is that white still is up too much material
