He almost always won. That is how he was lightyears ahead of his competition. He lived in an era of terrible players and was able to rise far above all of the knowledge available at his time.

If Steinitz played Carlsen he would have his butt handed to him as well. Every generation of chess players are better than the last.

In chess there are no opinions. The games state the truth.

ivandh

The games state that Morphy won, it's opinion whether it was good or bad or Parcheesi.

It just so happens that I am the world's greatest craps player, not the dice game, chess!

goldendog

What's Yereslov's USCF again?

Yereslov

Who cares whether he won or not. He's still a terrible player.

Scottrf

He was the best of his time. That's important, whether you think he's terrible is irrelevant.

Doggy_Style

Okay, found it.... just a casual game.

Looked pretty good for a casual game. He was probably enjoying himself, trying to set up a pretty finish.

Yereslov

It makes no difference whether it's casual or not. In fact, as a casual game it should be of better quality.

You write nonsense like this because you believe it?

DrFrank124c

It just so happens that I have been going over some of Morphy's games with a computer and the computer gives Morphy's moves a top rating.

No. He writes it because he's a troll. He's even admitted it himself.

That's just sad, the first rule of being a troll is you never admit to being a troll.

mottsauce

that just makes him a bad troll.

Tournaments tend to create more stress. I always play better chess in casual games.
