Sorry for the typo on my comment on move 7. I meant to put in white, as I had the black pieces and my opponent had the white pieces.
My first chess game in a while.

Considering your enormous material advantage, you should have just tried to consolidate your position instead of going for a mating attack.
I'm not sure how the rest of the game unfolded, but a simple move like Rag8 would have made things extremely difficult for black. One of black's main disadvantages (aside from being down 2 pieces) is that his heavy pieces lack coordination. This is because his king is stuck in the center, preventing his rooks from seeing each other. The move Rag8 would maintain your other rook on the 2nd rank, keeping white's king in the center and vulnerable while also hindering the activity of his other pieces, mainly the rook on h1. White will have to untangle himself from this bind before he can get in any counter play, but that would give you more than enough time to reposition your a5 knight and b7 bishop to better locations and start an attack.

AndyClifton, even though this isn't a complete game, there's actually a lot you can say about it, like what mistakes were already made so far by both sides, and how both I and my opponent could've done better in our respective efforts to win the game up to now. Any comment that points out what you believe is a mistake on either side would help. Also, does kenpo post comments like the above one often? Also, I'm actually new to the site and this is my very first post, just as this game was my first in a long time.

Well no, there isn't much we can say...since you (apparently) lost that somehow, although you had a huge advantage, we would have to see the rest to know what went wrong. It's pretty obvious that the only real mistakes so far have been made by White.
And yes, kenpo is always like that. It's because he reads Susan Sontag and people of that ilk. We've been doing our best to give him comic books and stuff to read, but so far he has refused all our attempts at therapy.

Also, Kens_Mom, I think you're right about the two rooks, but white probably still had the resources to keep the game going until the endgame, something he said so himself. Though I couldn't have won against white right away, as I figured out when I lost, I probably still could've wreaked some havoc on white's position and finished him off when I got my knight and bishop into the game.

I doubt it. 26... Rag8 threatens 27... Nb3 followed by Nd2+ and N4f3+. If White tries 27 e5 then 27... Qd5 is ruinous for him.

Black is two pieces up with an attack and white is disorganized.
Shouldn't take more than 10 moves to win massive material or a mate.

White still could've blocked my rooks with 27.Ng3. If I decided to take the knight, white would've gotten his king's side rook into the game and one of my own rooks would've been gone. If I decided to move Nb3 instead, white could've taken my rook on g2 with his king, rendering the strategy useless as he would've then gotten a free knight with his queen if I moved it to d2.

Taking massive material is what I meant by wreak havoc, wafflemeister, though I think getting a mate in this position was very tricky. Although, if you have a step-by-step mating process that white couldn't avoid, I'd very much appreciate it.

27 Ng3 Rxb2 Black threatens Qxf4+.
In any case it's rather inane to discuss such matters. Unless you're playing by the odds that Black has to mate by move 30 or he loses, such considerations aren't terribly relevant.

No, I don't see a mate :) But from experience (when I get a position like whites) I don't last very many moves. Neither do my opponent's when the roles are reversed.
So like Andy said Rag8 and you can double on his 2nd rank right away. (Ng3 from white drops f4 to check by the way). After that just keep making threats / look for tactics. With rooks on his 2nd and knights at d4 and b3 it's just an overwhelming position.
This is my first real chess game in a long time, and my opponent and I both played a good game, and I was winning, but I eventually made a few blunders and lost in the end. I'd like some commentary about how both sides fared, the mistakes each side made, and how both sides could've fared better. With that, enjoy the game below.
