My first chess tournament in Canada

The second game against a stronger opposition in a dry position.

I have only recorded up to moves 53. The position went on for about another 25-30 moves. The last phase of the game was played in blitz mode, and so many mistakes were made, and it is not worth analyzing.

In the end, I had approximately 2.5 minutes on the clock, and the opponent had less than 30 seconds. The position is dead drawn, with each side a rook and 2 pawns. I have accepted the draw offer as a gentleman gesture (I have decided to not play on time, as I have known Mr. Fred have played a good game.)

This game I am really looking for advice. I know my play and plan has been a bit below par.

Here comes the third, which is the last round of my 2nd OTB tournament. It was also my first OTB loss in official chess tournaments. The game lasted 41 moves before going into blitz mode for the last 30 moves. All credits go to Patrick, he played and handled the position better than me.

The blitz phase has been back and fourth, both sides made blunders, and the result could go either way. However, Pat deserved to win as he played the early phase of the game better.

He actually was shared-first place with my friend, Jason Manley. I have personally send congratulations to both of them for winning the tournament.

I am hoping to cross sword with them again in the N.B provincial tournament. It is highly unlikely, as they both qualified for the closed section ( which are great!), and I can only play in the open section, as I have not played sufficient number of games.

I will come back and analyze this game a bit more in depth.

It was a pleasure playing vs you, Hope to see you in St john.
I will in next few days put my analyses of this game..

Move 5, c3 my game plan was to play solid as i wasn't sure how aggressive of a player you were, usually i would follow up with c4 but that would of been more double edge for both & and i did not feel like going through those lines happy.png

Move 11, Nxc6 indeed i though was weak light square bishop and my plan was to try and blockade the middle for that bishop not to have good squares and try to play around it.

I will post link with my game review once i got time. Appreciate the game and looking forward playing again.

Thanks!! have a great day!
