My interesting game of the week...

I used to be afraid to play as Black against Ruy Lopez, but not anymore. I like the game that I usually get from the:

Schleimann Defense, Jaenisch Gambit

Psychologically, I think it kinda throws Ruy Lopezers off since the Ruy Lopez is all about initiative, and 3...f5 challenges white for the initiative. No, I have not won every game with this defense, but I think it's good for me to play something where I don't feel like I'm on my heels. As with any opening, one should play principally and to their individual taste (while stepping out of the comfort zone every now and then). Here's a short game I finished. Enjoy!

It' good if white plays as in the example with 4.Bxc6 dxc6  5. exf5, but it can play also 4. Nc3 fxe4  5. Nxe4, and in this case the position of white seems much better.

iPod says, "There's an app for that." Well, I say there's a continuation for 4. Nc3.

4. Nc3 fxe4  5. Nxe4  d5

@PrismaK: then could you (somehow) consider 6. ...dxe4 a blunder?

When will white realize that he no longer has the initiative? When it's too late.

Better than 8.Nd4+ is 8.Qe2

It seems a risky opening for black

Anyway, on the explorer, 4Nc3 is the preferred answer

Another interesting use of this interesting gambit:

White wants the initiative playing an opening which they can sometimes call spanish torture??
