My proudest victory against a Bot

Hi Chess community,

We all miss Beth and certainly we've enjoyed been challenged (and mostly defeated) by her. Nevertheless, there are other bots you can enjoy playing with too. Some are tricky, some are challenging. And then there are others you simply hate passionately.

That was my case with 'Nelson'. His smiley face was the prelude of a defeat for me.

It took me several attempts to win (challenge mode) against him with White. And it took me even more games to get a victory in my bag with Black.

Now I can proudly say I won 1-1

It is with happiness that I share the notes and my (humble) analysis.

So here is the game:

And here is my Analysis:

1. e4 Nf6 Nelson loves to bring his Queen earlier in the game so I prepare

7. f4 Nf3+ By moving my N here I: check (ruining castling on that side) and set his Queen up with my e4 Pawn
9. ... exd3 Knight on g1 is lost so I rather take a bishop with me !
11. ... Qb6 Time to take that annoying lady out of the game. Will she bite? She did
16. ... Bxd3 I can check again but most important, I will remove that Rock from the game. It will cost me a Bishop though
20. ... Bxe3 another sacrifice: my last Bishop for his last one too. Worth trying.
29. ... Re4: I was moving my Knight and it is under threat so I put my Rock here: if white rock on a4xNb4, I will capture it with my recently moved rock on e4
31. Rc2+ check and the use of two pieces at the same time to attack. Nice
40. ... Rc6 I will sacrifice my Rock in order to take his out of the game.
51. ... Rf1 This is interesting: I attack both his Knight and King AND protect my passing Pawn on d3.
52. I can not believe I did not move my Rock against his Knight. Had he taken my passing pawn, I could have captured with my knight though.
61. ... Rxg6+ time to eliminate this Knight, but at great cost. From now on I had to perform a Queen + King checkmate. Thank you chess.com lessons happy.png
