"White owed his success to his pawn majority on the Q side, but, be it noted, he had to work for it. He had many opportunities of going wrong, and on several occasions he had to find just the right move to withstand Black's K-side attack. He had to time with precision the moves preparatory to his Q-side advance, without which the advance of his Q-side pawns would have been premature.
