Post- Game Details Said I had a "Missed Win"

Hi guys,

First time poster here.

I played a casual game with a friend earlier, and post game the details came up saying I had 1 "missed win". I'm guessing that this means that if I had made the correct move, I would have won the game. However when I look at it (the move was move #13 when I move my bishow down to b6 in front of my pawn line to protect myself from the knight forking my king and rook) I can't seem to understand why instead of moving my bishop down, the analysis says I would've won if I had moved my other bishop up to d7. Can anybody help me out on this? I ended up winning the game, but the possibility that I could have won that early is making me curious.

Thanks,

Enoch

Thanks KetoOn1963

Yeah I'm nowhere near analyzing that far and didn't even think of that combination as a possibility.

I guess that had I followed the above sequence it would be easy to go for mate...

anyways really appreciate the help! Interested in learning more..

Actually, in the line given by KetoOn1963, Black wins even more quickly by 17. ... Rd8+ instead of 17. ... cxb3.

17...cb3 looks cooler :-)

Thanks for that suggestion. So, I tried this in analysis, but if rook moves to d8 and checks, then how would the line of play most likely follow (best moves for both sides)?

You always need to look for forcing moves: checks, captures, threats.
I would caution against the mindset of "best moves for both sides"  We are all human.  Always being able to find the best moves is an impossibility.

Really appreciate the thorough analysis with both possible reactions from white. Will keep your advice in mind. Cheers

Wish analysis would categorize whether it was a missed chance to win material, or a missed mate.
