I'd really like to hear what people think of this game, and where (besides the really obvious blunders I mentioned in my own analysis) I went wrong, and how I might have salvaged this.

Vlad1962

I do not try to be mean, but working on your opening and endgame would do alot of good to you, you seemed to drop all your pawns in the endgame while black kept all of his.

I don't take that as being mean at all, thank you for the advice as well as the analysis. :)

I agree with Vlad.. I d like to add something.. Why didnt you take on e5 when you had the chance?? I mean 3. ..a6? 4.e5. The scotch tends to be an opening that opens up the lines leading to an endgame pretty fast..

I don't think Black's choice of a defense right around move 20 was a good idea.  You could've played 22 Qxf7+ Kxf7 23 ef g5 24 Bg3 with a nice game (one of the possibilities there being e5).

I was hesitant here to exchange queens, which I'm seeing now was a mistake. Thanks for the help. :)

I think I was focusing on getting pieces out and developed to try to clear the way for castling, I didn't see that the exchange would have put me ahead. Thanks, I'll be trying to keep better watch for possibilities like that in the future. :)

Thanks, Yeres, for the analysis and the advice. And you're right, looking back even I can't really say what I was trying to do with those rooks.
