Should I consider this a draw?

In case there were truly any doubts about the outcome, the OP is posting their own loss and is demonstrating the mentality of what David Sirlin would call a "scrub." If this has any hint of a better player intentionally setting stuff like this in rated games  to troll threads, I would advocate them being banned for this.

Assuming they are serious, they have been inventing made-up rules and trying to advocate an idea that gives a bad name for beginners in every game. The goal of the game is to win under the legal rules provides, whether they checkmate through gradual advantage or out of nowhere, win a lost game on time or find a miraculous draw, whether dramatic blunders occur or not, each move is a real move by a player and has real consequences.

As for online vs IRL chess, a blunder is a blunder in both, if you had been IRL you were just as likely to be as foolish, and to try and separate the two methods of facing players as different games despite the equivalent rulesets is only further digging you into the title of being a "scrub," and quite frankly making you a bad player, poor sport, and quite frankly unpleasant person to deal with in general.

What makes this even more ridiculous is your determination to make an entire thread showing this awful behavior and then adding onto it with a stubborn refusal to both accept any view besides your own and then add to it with a repetition of your poor behavior. Even with your low rating and quality of play your behavior here is dangerously close to trolling, if not past the line already, and the most productive lesson this thread serves is for other players to look at players that resemble anything close to the ideas you show here and stay as far away from toxic people like them as possible.

You make up your own rules, you force these ideas onto your opponents for no reason, and to top it off you invite spectators to witness it to annoy them and create as much dissatisfaction as possible, you basically are the last thing any group of people with a positive goal wants. If you are serious in your mentality, you need to change it, and if you are a troll, you honestly should stop harrassing the people you play with this constant baiting.

I'm not making anything up... I'm merely suggesting a small improvement.  I'm not forcing anything onto opponents either... I have yet to see a sub 800 player on this thread who I would likely get matched up with.  Additionally, during game play i do not sandbag or lose intentionally or troll or whatever.  I just want to make learning chess easier to learn for lower rated players, and reward overall good game play (like in a hockey game or other sport) where a slight oversight late in the game does not equate to a catastrophic  loss.  That is all.  If the chess community writ large is not interested in such leniency for new players/ low rated players, its no wonder there are so few 1500+ rated players.

Isn't this the same guy whose name started with a V who said he studied at an esteemed chessist society or something. It just reminds me of him. Dreaming up something so ridiculous probably isnt that common.

NoHaxJustLuck

before looking at this, look at your back rank.

NoHaxJustLuck

and yes it`s supposedly a draw

I hate it when I have a positional advantage, and then make a blunder to give it away.  When we lose this way, it helps us to learn and play better.  Always focus and play until you checkmate your opponent, he resigns, or you both agree to draw.  Note that if you offer a draw, your opponent is not obligated to accept it.

Since your probably all wondering, I emailed FIDE to see if there is any room for such an improvement to the current chess rule standards.  I'll keep you all posted via these means on how these events unfold.  For those who remain supportive, thank you.  For those who have been challenging, thank you as well, you really made me consider and reflect before I forged ahead. I'm pretty excited to see the response!  Thank you to those who suggested that I contact FIDE direct. I didn't even know that THAT was possible!

If nothing else, I'm sure they'll get a good laugh over it.

I also think he reads like a very important person we all already know; but I wouldn't wish to draw attention to that because I enjoy comedy troll threads, intelligently done.

Yep, this has to be a windup...

@vantangler: By any chance, are you 2QIC (or whatever his/her name was)?

Him or one of the duzens of others, of course he is.

This thread is a waste of time, but since I am bored, I will jump in. YOU LOST, get over it!

Looks like the rep at FIDE does'nt work on the weekends (understandable) so I will have to wait until Monday for a response.  Will post as soon as available, hopefully we can all get some traction on this issue.  Will keep you all appraised.

How could you be a 'new player' when in your opening post you said you've been playing for 'over 15 years' ???

Remember, he`s not very good. That may explain a lot, largely.

Hey, everybody! Let`s boycott this fool and refuse to play any Chess with him and not allow him to even participate in Vote Chess games. His rating is so low I doubt that he could contribute anything substantial anyway (although he could still learn a lot--of that I am sure). I`ll let him visit my club in West Orange, NJ and let him play but if he starts arguing that lost games are really draws, out he goes. I have the legal authority to have people removed by the USCF and I will not hesitate to call the police if I have to.

Not all people at the grandmaster level choose to resign, so no you didnt win. Its insulting to the game to say that you won

This is definitely a 100% lose. It's called back-rank mate. 25. .. Rxd5 is a horrible blunder! I admit that you had a winning position but the blunder was more than enough to make up for your good work  No worries. We all blunder. Move on.

No, he had 26. Rd8 saving the game. Rd5 was perfectly fine.
