This is my second game where i have played the open sicilian instead of the alapin. Analysis and feedback is very welcome.

Great game,,

Believe me, it wasn't for me! Well played Mike, that'll teach me to be greedy and ignore my own defences!

Wow great! That mate was unexpected,

Yes, Qb6 is a bit pointless if not followed up, with Qxb2 or Nc6 to try and decentralise Nd4. Just gets in way of queen-side counterplay with b5 etc. 11...e5 didn't look good, chould consider immediate 12Nf5 too. What you played worked out nicely, 17Nd5 was possible too.

JG27Pyth

Well played on both sides -- very accurate in the end I think. You were  inaccurate at the crucial moment though, just a question of move order, but what a difference... it could have cost you the win:

Wow, that's excellent analysis JG27pyth! I never realised that the game was being played on such a knife edge!

I had seen 17Nd5 was a lot simpler, but to be honest had noticed QxR in the game continuation. Will try to gloss that over by saying my intution was ok Undecided
