Strength and weakness of scandinavian defense
The game was too poorly played to show anything about the strength and weakness of the Scandinavian Defense.
Strength:
- A provocative opening
- Black opens the game immediately
- Usually both black bishops have freedom
Weakness:
- After the capture 2.exd5, Black loses time recapturing
- Usually the white d-pawn will go to d4 afterwards, giving more central space
- Because Black loses some time, he is in danger of a quick knockout
I copied from Chess.com's openings..
3 ... Qe6+ - Adventurous move. I do not play like that, but it's interesting ... I like Scandinavian defense.
Join the 3...Qd6 or the 2...Nf6 Scandinavian Club at Chess.com. These are probably the most active clubs for this Defense.
why not white play Queen = A8 one move earlier and why black not played knight f2 forking rooks and Queen?
GM Larsen called the Scandinavian an improved Caro-Kann.
