Tactical analysis board

In using the Tactics Trainer I have clicked on the tactical analysis board while not really understanding how to use this tool.  I have searched the Chess.com site for instructions or guidance on the tool and have been left wanting.

Is the tactical analysis board assumed to be intuitive or is there a documented method for its profitable use?

What I want to know is how to read and use the tactical analysis board.  It just looks like jibberish to me.

On Chess.com there are instructions for people who are rank beginners on playing chess, e.g., how each piece moves.  The tactical analysis board seems to me to be a sophisticated tool, yet I cannot find that "rank beginner to the tactical analysis board" guide for its use.  Does such a guide exist?
