I would think the Rook.  In endgames they are always gobbling pawns

The trick is to create open files for your major pieces to control. Then they become active and important participants in the outcome of the game.

Personally, while I find the Queen to be probably what I rely on for a large portion of the game, I think that in good hands the Knights can easily become the most devastating piece on the board.

I dont know if this is truth based on a technicallity, but there are 8 pawns taking pieces throught out the game.

I generally find that once a queen is able to start taking pieces the game is probably pretty one sided and close to finishing.

My queen is involved in alot of attacks but isn't very likely to be out carving it up... (again unless my opponent is weak/blundered alot)

Minor pieces/pawns are definitely the more active killers I'd say.  Although it could just be perception seeing how there are more of them :P

great topic. i would say that most of my attacks are queen based but never fully executed by her. i like my connected knights and bishop pairs.

A couple rooks or a few minor pieces can be equal or even stronger than a queen. I've done that trade successfully a few times.
