You pretty much refuted your opponent's weak attack by developing your pieces. He didn't even play Ne5! That's the only reason anyone plays the bird LOL.
I know right?
Sorry for the lack of annotation, I was in a hurry. I've added some more.

Could you expand on that please?
I'd really like to understand the bird better.
haha, nice attack. I saw Bg4 but missed Bc3...go figure, one doesn't make sense without the other, lol
He opened 1.f4 and had a weak position in under 10 moves -- that doesn't take away from a brave and well-executed attack and that Bc3! jaw-dropper. Well done.
Your opponent definitely messed up his opening with the fifth move taking his pawn to d3. That slowed down his development and weakened the e and f pawns.
Very tasty indeed, white sure paid the penalty for not developing swiftly. I would have lost all enthusiasm for my chances as white if I saw the move Bf2 played against me there! Very "pure" finale, every piece doing just enough to seal the victory.
Yeah I couldn't believe it myself how every little thing about ...Bc3+ worked, and I had to forsee that before playing ...Bg4+.
Bravo. How the heck are you not higher than 1700?!
Thanks. I think it's because usually the only tournaments I go to are monthly at the mall, and I play in the open, as anyone over 1500 has to play in the open. I'm either playing 2000s+, which I can give a good match but usually still lose, or playing people equal or slightly lower than me. There aren't many people in the middle so my rating is usually hardly effected.

Hmmm... I'm sure you'll be a lot higher soon, but the rating system doesn't lie. When you do play in tournaments your results over time should reflect your true rating no matter who you play.

Perhaps if I get a few lucky wins or draws against the 2000s who I usually have to play with, which I haven't yet . I came really close to beating a 2100 (and that, win or draw, would give a huge increase in rating even after many games played) who I outplayed, but unfortunately I blundered and lost right at the end.
good game but not devilping quickly has its disadvantegs due to this match was clost to a real match i played

You should soon. You seem to have a lot better understanding than the average 1700, even though I've only seen a few of your best games.
It's very rare that I get a really good attack because I usually want to play strategically, but if I'm given the opportunity to attack I'm of course going to take it. It felt really good pulling off what I think was a great combination. It was on ICC standard. My opponent was 1900 but in my opinion played really badly. So of course to win like this my opponent needed to cooperate but it doesn't take the beauty out of it. I haven't checked it with a computer yet though.
