A game lost - blunders due to lack of rest?

I played these games, each the third game of a quad against the strongest player in the quad. 2-0 vs 2-0 with this to decide who wins the quad. Games under 30-0 time control. I'm only posting one of the two for now since I'm tired after typing this out and the other game is much longer, still need to analyze that.

c4 was a mistake but not a blunder.  But IMHO your opponent gave you the opportunity to clean up the mistake by playing 6. Bg2 (cxd)

Dropping the bishop was of course due to you being tired.  Retrating the attacked bishop to e6 was better.

You ask... Whay not 18.f3 (because f3 was pinned to the king by Qc4)

21. ..g5? drops your knight on f6.

What is on top of my mind after reading the annotation and looking at the game is why not play 24. ..Re1+ winning.  But alas I have missed many a winning move OTB myself.

Beyond analysis here are some constructive tips for playing when you are tired.  The only OTB games I can make due to work, family and other comittments are after work and from 6:40PM-10PM:

  • Drink an energy drink or coffee before or during the game.
  • Breaking the game into three timeparts take a break at the 1/3 and 2/3 mark.  In other words for a thirty minute game at the 10 and 20 minute mark.
  • Get up when you blunder, make a mistake or when you think you are winning and stretch and take a minute to relax.

Thanks! Yeah I think your analysis is spot on. I'm quite annoyed with myself for missing that Re1+. I saw it but dismissed it (Bishop blocks) without realizing how effective it really was. >_<

Also, I always seem to get into a blunderous state of mind against him in my game(losing the game). Any tips for preventing this?

Dang 3FFA, looks like you fell victim to the removal of the guard tactic.

But that Re1+!!!!!! AAARGHH....forced mate in 5.

Recharge your brain power between games with some sugar, be it skittles or starbursts or whatever your favorite candy is. That could help.
