Understanding Mistakes in Analysis?

In this analysis (https://www.chess.com/a/2tvdGphUJSBJn), I usually check my games for better moves I missed, or for better alternatives I can use in the future.

But in most cases, I just cannot understand why 1 move is better than another.
As is the case with move 3, I played f3 to further defend the e4 pawn during a trade.

But the analysis wanted E4xD5 which results in an even trade and me behind in development because his queen is out.

I'm pretty new to chess but have been trying to learn for about a month now. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks Dylan <3

Let's take a step back...after 1.e4 d5

Center Counter (aka Scandinavian Defence)

What is Black's move doing? (hint: the name)

Why did you play 2.Nc3?

What other options were there?

Did you consider what to do if Black played 2...d4?

There are five ways to make a piece safe:

(I) move it to a square where it is safe;

2) capture the attacking piece;

3) block an attack (of a bishop, rook, or queen more than one square away);

(4) counter-attack (this includes various possibilities);

(5) adequately guard it.

You may have chosen the move 2.Nc3 because you wanted to guard it with the knight and attack the d5 pawn at the same time.

By doing so, Black now has the same options.

Low and behold, Black made the same mistake as you with 2...Nf6

Now, you have the same options again.

There's nothing really wrong with 2. Nc3 (2. ... d4 is nothing special after 3. Nce2, although capturing on d5 by 2. exd5 instead was stronger) but 3. f3 is weak. It weakens the dark squares and the King's position, and takes away the best square from the g1-Knight.

Better was 3. exd5.

I should add that using the online analysis feature has it's drawbacks.

Especially for moves classified as inaccuracies, but also moves deemed mistakes and best.

With the weak analysis, it can sometimes just be wrong.

As for the opening in your game, I'll give 2 videos. The first covers basic ideas and plans for the Scandinavian Defence (how your game started). You'll notice he makes a comment about having to play the Scandinavian after 1.e4 d5, but you've proven in your game that's not completely the case (but why I consider it a mistake).

The second covers Alekine's Defence. The reason I include the 2nd is because by playing 2.Nc3 and Black responding with 2...Nf6, you've transposed. If you're not interested in watching this video, I'd suggest at least finishing the early Nc3 line.

He talks rather quickly for me. You might need to take notes or watch a few times for things to "sink in". He has lots of good videos (imo).

LegalMove?I just went through the analysis of a Game I played against one of the chess.com Bots, and as you can see it recomands pawn to g6. as far as I know, that shouldn't be a legal Move, since there is none of my pieces on that square....

Is this a Mistake in the Analyse system??

Google "en passant".
