I mean, was this even 1600 strength?

It's meaningless to gauge a computer's strength with a rating. For instance, the computer you played clearly won the opening fight, but you were then able to get an attack out of nothing. Its playing strength fluctuated from very strong to very weak.

@davidegpc 32.Bg7 Re5!, threatening Rg5+, and no checkmate for white. I could have pulled out this checkmate on the previous move with 31.Bg5, where the f pawn makes a possible 31...Re5 useless. On 31...Kg7 there's 32.Rxh7 followed by Bf6 and checkmate next move. On 31...h5 there's 32.Bf6+ Kg8 33.Rxh5 gxh5 34.Rxh5 and checkmate next move. On 31...f6, trying to give some escape squares to the king, there's 32.Rh7+ Kg8 33.Rh8+ Kf7 34.R3h7#, where the f5 pawn keeps the king from escaping to the 6 rank. The hopeless 31...Re6, trying to sacrifice the Rook for some open space or stop Bf6, fails also to 32. Rxh7+ Kg8 33.Rh8+ Kg7 34. R3h7#. Very fascinating combinations indeed!

I'm flattered that you though it was me :) Any chess engine could have found it, and, yes, I got my hands dirty, I used a chess engine for this one.
