Five moves into it and I can already see where it all went wrong, you weakened your defence and gave him a pawn.

At a glance, I can't vouch for the soundness of your rather 19th century opening and early middle game, but you won enough material to give you a technically winning game.

8.Bd2 seemed fine. Black is in a jam with that queen out there and castling probably isn't happening for him. 8.Bd3 loses a pawn since Nxd4 works now, but even if it didn't, blocking your isolated pawn like that is usually a bad thing to do.

14.Bd2 looks tons safer. His queen is running all over the place and the h-pawn is just out there. I think you should just stay solid unless something really good comes along. Ne5 might justify his odd opening moves since they went unpunished.

actually 8. Bd3 doesnt lose a pawn due to...

The Goring Gambit is sound...its just with correct play, black can achieve equality. Without correct play, white can own the centre and attack the black king easily

no razor after 17. Nxc6  then there is Ne2+, picking up the bishop

I think the move h5 was for an potential kingside attack since his plan was to castle queenside. Personally I think it was played a little too soon, since not all his pieces were developed and it gave you notice of his castling queenside plan..

11. a3 to push away the bishop and 12 b4 which starts an attack against the Q side which will be where the K is going to castle

10. Bb5 with the idea of Ne5 was strong. Bf4 seems kinda dubious.
