What do those numbers mean when your analyzing your game?

what about -381.00? I found that when I was for some reason analyzing the fool's mate. Why doesn't it say –mate in 1?

Hi, I've been playing on the iPad, and sometimes I see a pound sign (#) before the number, like this: (#-8) What does this mean? I searched through Help, this forum, and Google, to no avail...

I'm not sure if it's an iPad thing, but I've only seen it there (I'm writing this from my laptop's browser)

TIA!

and what about 2:19,2 for example ? what does that mean ? especially the 2 infront of the colon

2 minutes 19 seconds  2 deciseconds. its the time taken on 1 move or total time after set amount of moves, depending on where it is on the screen.

#-8 means a mate in 8 for black (notice the minus sign).

Thank you, @ajl721x! I know the minus sign is for black and plus sign is for white, but I thought M was for Mate, as in -M8... Is # different from M, somehow?

I do notice, by the way, the mate at move 17, Qxg1#

Ilampozhil25

# is the same as M probably your device thats all

Thank you (again), @ajl721x

I like playing on my iPad (a little less so on my phone), because it's easily grabbed, started up, held, and moved, unlike a laptop, but I've recently started to also go through the browser (Edge), because some features aren't available in the app, and it's often a challenge finding my way around. I'll learn... I hope!

Sameer_chess-player
