While I have been playin chess for over two years now, most of the time playing against my ex-boyfriend who tought me or my current boyfriend, I have not really done much studing of chess itself and now I am starting to. I decided to look at this game that I played recently, and lost, and noticed several places where I could have made better moves. I was wondering what else I may have missed.

3. Bb5 is the Ruy Lopez, a common opening amongst beginners, nothing wrong with it, you just need to learn/memorize the continuations.

This is a good move because you develop your bishop and allow the King to castle, this should be your motive in the opening and not you wanting to check the King.

A move I would have suggested, which would of most likely won you the game was instead of 23. dxe5, 23.  Bd5!!, which may look like a sacrifice at first, however if the 23.. QxBd5, 24. Re5+!!  The Knight on c6 cannot capture your rook as it is pinned, which means Black will lose his/her queen.
