Who will win?

Hey guys, please help me out with this.

This is a game that I won due to time, (actually due to resignation, because of an impending time defeat), but I really wanted to keep playing to assure myself that I had the advantage positionally, since material was equal. I've annotated the game to a great extent, but basically, I need a positional analysis of the ending position:

So black resigned since there was less than 1 min on his clock and I had almost 3 mins left, and I guess he couldn't see a way to beat me in that short a time. However I do feel that if time wasn't an issue, I could have still forced a win. Or could black have forced something from his back rank to mine - my king could be threatened...

Is my analysis correct? Would I have won?

I would like to feel better about this bitter-sweet victory...

Can no one tell me the likely outcome here? Or is it that obvious?

Some of you have already played the game out... why not throw a comment or two in about what you think.

Thanks.

White has the clear advantage. Black's Knight is out of the game, the rook on f8 is doing nothing at the moment.  g6 (I think that is what you meant) would be bad becuase it invites the knight to a dominate square on f6. With that said, Nxg7!! Kxg7, Rg3+ Kh7 Qf4 threatenting Rh3 and Qxh6# would be hard to stop.

I agree with qnl, You have the definite advantage.

It would take 2 moves for black to recover their knight, and you have all 3 of your pieces aiming at their king.

You would have won.

Thanks- that is pretty much what I figured - I just didn't actually play out the end of the game, though I so badly wanted to mate him and follow up on my otherwise decently played game, I thought.

Not necesarily.  Although white appears to have an advantage it still looks like a tough position to break down and with three minutes on the clock it could be easy to make a mistake.

It's NEVER over until it's OVER, your opponent shouldn't have resigned, he should have just played quickly and safely.  He could bring his Knight back into the game and play fast moves.  Despite black's inferior position I would suggest it very unlikely you could break him down to mate in less than three minutes.

ehem i tink if knight f6+ i don't eat that knight after all it helps the castle solid ,recover the knight at play position and still can fight longer

In response to AMC: I am actually a very fast player, and very few can outdo me on speed of play. I would dare say I had my oponent dominated on that front - and had more time to spare to ensure 'safe' moves. When it comes to me and blitz games/situations - 3 mins is a WORLD of time. I only consider myself short on time when the clock in under 45 seconds...
