Why couldn't I use En passant?

yes the question was answered fast, I don't know why the guy deleted it. since you're all here maybe let me know what you think of that game, I thought it was quite a nice one.

you only get to use en passant if you are from France, or if you are playing the French defense.

yeah in my opinion pawns should be able to en passant on both 5th rank and 6th rank since the name en passant refers to in passing. In both examples the opponent's pawn passed your own pawn...

En passant can be used anytime, not just the French Defense..
