can someone please look at my last two games and explain to me why am pulling a draw. when it's obvious that am about to win. in the first game with hasanAmer, I still had my rook, two knight and five pawn, he only had his king and it was called a draw, in the second game with greenchessboii, I had a queen, a knight and two pawns and he only had his king and it was also called a draw. anyway, just learnt how to play chess approx a month ago, so still learning. but this type of matches is pretty irritating especially when I can understand why I pulled a draw, and takes the joy of learning. So, please I will appreciate it if someone can tell Mr how that ended up as a draw, cos it both instances I was about checkmate with the next move.

Your last two games were draws by stalemate.

It was your opponent's move, they weren't in check and they had no legal moves so it's a draw.

You should always make sure your opponent has at least one legal move available if your move doesn't check or checkmate.

Ok, thanks. I didn't know that. I figured if they didn't have any legal move then that just makes them a sitting duck but now I know. Thanks again

You actually had one draw by stalemate, on 25 Oct, in which you were actually the defending side and managed to hold on to the point split (1/2 - 1/2).

Always remember, putting the king (and the opponent's other pieces) into paralysis without giving check at the same turn will not earn you a full point at all.

Remember that someone in a poor position is likely playing for stalemate to at least grab a draw from a bad situation. It's actually fun if it's you and you sucker someone into it
