what game is that

MRIsaacRich14

why would your put your rook there

immagicandyay

because Qxe8 then Nf6 fork

Aronole

Maybe because Rae1 is a better move because there is maybe a faster mate or something like that idk

Maybe

First, 1.Re8 is "questionable" because it wins the equivalent of a pawn, while the simple 1.Rae1 leads to quick checkmate.

But anyway, in this position white is a whole rook up. One may claim half a dozen of moves being "brilliant".

Yes, that's the point. The "brilliant" label is not awarded if the player is overwhelmingly winning anyway no matter what.

ok

Crossiantismid

Maybe you are still down material.?

Crossiantismid

And also Nf6+ is better as it leads to mate or loss of a queen

Because you’re still winning if you play a different move. That is a criterion for brilliant

Giving away a rook and a knight for the queen doesn't give you a very big advantage. Rae1 seems the most sensible and that's what I would have played.

RoelandPruijssers

You could have won the queen more cleanly. Nice tactic though, enough to win material as well.

Queen takes, and it looks like your idea was Re1, but queen takes, and then checkmate.

Queen takes what? It's not entirely clear what you're trying to say here.
