I see that my forum "What do you think about this sacriface?" was deleted? May I ask why? And how do I delete my own thread?

Avatar of Optimissed

I believe there was some issue with two posters having a bit of a feud on your thread. It didn't seem anything particularly terrible.

Avatar of adumbrate

ok but do you know how I can delete all my threads?

Avatar of Optimissed

Try deleting an O.P. and see what happens.

You can't delete all your threads I don't think.

I thought only mod's could delete forums.

If you delete/cancel your account your forums will still exist.

The only time your forums get deleted is if you get banned or if you ask a mod to delete them. Well I think that is how forums work.

I just tried deleting my OP of a thread I started and nothing happened. The thread is still there. So you can't delete your own threads, which is fair enough really.

Avatar of adumbrate

no but you can delete all the content. makes no sense really.

Actually, I'm more concerned about the OP. He created a thread and he has no idea why it went off the rails?

A cheating scumbag was called out, and then he cried to chess.com, which, I think, has a anti-defamation policy.

Most of all, he didn't like that my engine was better than his, and proved his engine's evaluation wrong (and the NM's evaluation correct).

I have to apologize for my part in getting your thread deleted .  I am sorry .  I believe it was the argument between me and fiveofswords that got your thread deleted .  I stopped when warned , in the thread , by a mod but he just kept going and then ... ZAP , the thread vanished . I don't really understand why they would delete the entire thread instead of simply muting those causing the problem ?

Avatar of Optimissed

I don't think fiveof swords was in any way a cheating scumbag. I for one miss his intelligence. He just picked the wrong person and the wrong response.

Avatar of Optimissed

I probably played a part in winding the other two up so I apologise too. I thought 5 was correct in his comments about g6 but he picked totally the wrong way to state his case.

Five and I have " history " , which is why it escalated . He is a B class player OTB after 10 years so I doubt he can reach 2200+ standard without a bit of help myself , since there are titled players here that don't reach that level .  It certainly arouses suspicion .

What is class B? We don't have these things in the UK.

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

I don't think it has anything to do with the UK. Class B is 1600-1800 rated player.

In USCF, they give players below Expert (2000-2199) letter-class organization.  A-Class is 1800-1999, B- 1600-1799, C- 1400-1599, etc.  We have "class championships" in the United States Chess Federation, based on this organization.

When you quote 2200, do you mean FIDE or USCF? Isn't it true that a FIDE 2200 is stronger than a USCF 2200? Our ECF, which was BCF, has a converson factor of grade*8 + 600 to FIDE. Generally the strongest local players anywhere here are in the range of ECF 190 - 210. After that you're attracting national attention. I know lots of ECF 200s, which is FIDE 2200. I couldn't have reached that level without dedicating my life to it, since I only started playing at an age of 36, so my natural ceiling was about ECF 180. But that doesn't mean I didn't beat and draw against stronger players, or at least give them a tough game on my day. A lot of chess ability is self-belief, you know, and in being so ignorant that you don't know that you ought to lose. Five had self-belief and I believe also intelligence. I did get the idea that you were talking down to him and obviously he resented that. Perhaps he didn't have the ability or desire to explain himself clearly. Then again, you could be right on all counts. I don't think it's sensible to entirely count that out.
