Fun Ending

I did terribly in this game, for the most part after the opening. i always maintained winning positions, but never exploited them well. I was glad that I won, but I'd like some critique on how I could have sped up that finish and if he really was in a losing position deep enough to warrant a resignation.

7.  Ng5?

I would have castled.  Ng5 doesn't help you.  He can easily fend you off with h6.

7...Qg6?!  The game would have been your very quickly with Bxg6 but you know that. :-)

8... Qh5.  Oh yeah, he realized he was in Jeopardy.  He had no choice.  Whats funny is yor Queen and his square off for another 4 moves...

18. Qe2??  Here, take my Queen, its a gift.  Merry Christmas...

20.  Nxf7+  This is the best move of the game.  You give him a tasty Knight only to go Nxf7+.  Not only does this fork the King and Rook but a discovered check with the Queen.

He wussed out in the end.  At your level, I would have continued to play you for a while hoping you would blunder your Queen as well. :-)

Edrid... if you can spot N forks (and you can) you can spot hanging pieces. The only excuse is that you aren't looking... and that's not a good excuse.

You can leave this level of play behind, quickly, if you'll simply make it a point of pride to look and think hard every move, and not only when the mood strikes you.

Between reasonable players he was utterly lost. But you guys were making enough careless mistakes that he should have kept playing. Heck, you were winning and that makes it likely you'd get even sloppier.
