Well, now you've done it: now i have to post a king's gambit game which, after some reflection, is probably much better than the initial post. I was black here...
"I knew the bishop sac had to be good" - I don't think so. Why not just retreat the bishop to d3 and have pretty much the same attack but with an extra (attacking) piece?
I used the wrong wording. When i said 'knew' i meant it in a gut way, not in a logical sense. More of a feeling really. I 'know' this is a bad idea. I 'knew' i should have stayed home today. That kind of thing.
