yh i thought there was no way my opponent would convert this in under a minute if i sac my bishop.

i've never had a b+n v k ending before so didn't bother learning it at all bc silman said it wasn't worth remembering.

You better learn it, because you might pull it off, in a similar situation. And, it also will help you to become a better chess-player.

i should probs learn q+k v r+k before learning this bc it's more common.

You could learn both at the same time.

And later to keep them in memory train them once in a while.

i wouldn't play 2. e5 unless you reaaaally like the philidor.

against 1. d4 d6 2. c4 e5 it's good bc after the trades the c4 square is covered already so the white light squared bish can't develop there.

but against 1. d4 d6 2. e4 e5 after the trades the c4 square is free and white has a monster bishop all game and it's just easier to play for white.

I am not a philidor player. I just want the queens off as soon as possible and this set up helps in that respect.
