My Bobby Fischer Combination

Sort:

This is a game that I played in the 4th round of the NC Open this year. Although I do not claim to play like Bobby Fischer or would even think that I could ever play at that level, when I showed this game to a fellow player he stateted, "Wow, that's like something Bobby Fischer would play."  Granted, we are both not rated very high at all being around 1300 USCF ourselves.  However, I thought it may be an instructional game for some and at the very least a very entertaining game to say the least.  There were mistakes on both sides of the board so expect that.  Now just sit back and enjoy.

Please leave comments with thoughts and ideas.  I realize I made a lot of mistakes and inaccuarcies in this game but I am still open to see different sides.  Thanks in advance.

I remember analyzing 17... Be6 but for some reason declined it because I thought it lost a piece... I can't remember the exact line I saw though and it could have been wrong (considering move 22).

Thanks for the feedback though.

I haven't really played the KID since that tournament after Round 5 of this tournament but I should probably pick it back up though.  Anyway, happy chess playing.

the combination is flawed because of: 19.Nb4 Rxc6! 20.Nxa2 (and now this Knight looks very silly there doesn't it?) 20... Rc4 (maybe even Rxc8!?) - now if 21.Rxf3?! Rxc8+! so... better is 21.Na6 (aiming for Nc5) Bg2  - and the game will go on...

On 6. Bg5 your should play 6...h6 7.Bh4 (now the Bishop has less influence) then 7...c5! 8.d5 e6! with a very good game and high winning chances

Feel free to send me a private message for some analysis of your games:) I like helping players who are learning and love chess... I am a FIDE 2000 player - USCF 2100 equivalent.

Zuud08,

The combination I was referring to starts on move 25... Nb4.

However, thanks for the insight as the knight does look silly on a2 in your variation. I will also keep in mind the h6 line after Bg5.

Also, thanks for the offer but I'm currently working with an IM.

What position is Zuud referring to?

Based on his text, he is referring to move 19.  not 25.

On both those moves, I moved Nb4, however, with different positions.

Aha, so he didn't number the moves right (odd for somebody with a 2000 FIDE rating).  At any rate, if 19... Nb4 20 Rxc6 Nxa2 21 Rc4 Be6 looks pretty good to me.
