An old game with some tactics.

Haha, yeah. In games where the players are rated 1100, anything can happen. Not that they suck or anything but look at how i turned a seemingly quite position into a mess that is winning for me. I would have never thought of knight F2 nowadays, lol

Best. Miniature. Ever.

Played. Like. Magnus. Carlsen.

FortunaMajor

Again. I played similar games.

Thanks aravinds II for putting the last game into the reader. It's easier to follow the game, even if own can play blindfolded! wink.png

FortunaMajor

You're welcome. Following blindfolded first may be recommended.

Ben_Dubuque

One of the wackier games I've played.

It was a Blitz Game so forgive the looser play.

FortunaMajor

@Ben_Dubuque,

4...d5 and 5...Na5 were a mistake. You gave White a clear advantage. 5...Nd4 was better.

9...Ng4 was a big mistake too. Luckily your opponent played the blunder 10.Be3?? giving away all advantage.

11...Nxe3 was again a mistake. White played the powerful 12.Qd2 and after 12...Qb6 and 13.Kd2, you would be losing. 13. Nxe5 threw away the win again.

A nice game. Not really a great one. The mate was very good, though.

I finally managed to spring this line on someone today:

FortunaMajor

Okay. I don't think even @barefoot_player will have criticisms for the game. An absolute masterpiece! happy.png

Ben_Dubuque

Oh I agree my game was sloppy and that French Defense game was pretty

Thank you, aravinds_II! Although it isn't strictly my miniature. I've had positions in the past very similar to this and my opponents have avoided the Bishop sacrifice, so I was intrigued to see whether the sacrifice was sound. I checked with an engine a couple of months ago and it spurted out this beautiful line, which I remembered fairly easily, and since then I had been waiting to spring it on an unsuspecting victim!

I wrote a section on the classic bishop sacrifice for my summer chess camp's workbook. All of the games are from the French. Sometimes it works, but not always. The workbook will be available through Amazon by next weekend.

Here is a game when it did not. https://www.chess.com/daily/game/147722496

A beautiful conception

FortunaMajor

Nice.

Here's a Bullet game where my opponent played well until he missed a simple checkmate.
