The reason I said it was unspotsmanlike in the first place is because I always learned to never rub it in when you are winning. Thats why I never get mor than 1 Queen on promotion

Does this mean you know how to mate with K and Q  against lone K ?

Yes it does

ILLYRIA

I saw one game where black ended up with 8 knights.  Can't say for sure if the two players agreed to this as a challenge to keep the game interesting or one guy may have just done this for kicks.  It still ended in a draw which I thought was funny.

So, why did you assume your much higher rated opponent didnt know how to mate with all his extra queens? I have had students and one of the first things I teach them is how to mate with K+Q v K and  K+R v K , if they dont already know.

You know what's sad about all this. He spent the time putting the game together for this forum. Now, if he'd resigned at a normal period and started a forum saying, Lost against a stronger player - any advice?, he'd of got good responses from lots of good people/strong players.

However, continuing with the lost game and this daft forum he's not really helped his chess at all. Waste of time and an opportunity.

It's also unsportsmanlike to disrespect your opponent so much that you don't resign when s/he's up 3 queens. When that happens, you're basically telling your opponent you don't think he can mate you even with a hugh material advantage.

MM78

It's pretty obvious that this gentleman isn't going to resign this thread any more than he resigned the game.  I think the IM was right to tell him never to resign because frankly he may not have enough experience (euphemism) to know when a game is truly lost and the people he is generally playing against in the class the IM teaches  may well blunder a won game.

(I may need to actually write that the poster's opponent was quite right to torture him and wasn't rude in the slightest, I think it's hilarious!

Rainbow, of course you're not camp or gay, your homophobic comments in the deleted thread on the Gay chess tournament prove your heterosexual credentials..unless it's a case of "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

Act superior? Excuse me for setting someone straight. You're not some saviour stats man, you're just a fool.

Funny. I do not recall calling you out personally for "acting superior." It seems that you made this leap yourself.

You should not take things so personally.

Although you will need to post one more time to get the last word but you may do so as we are finished.

Have a good day Rainbow and good luck to you in your chess.

I think this is funny and there's nothing unsportsmanlike. Unsportsmanlike behavior is more like swearing, spitting, kicking under the table, lack of personal hygiene, racist slurs, but he's well within the rules. Unfortunately the lone king looks silly as if he prefers humiliation over dignified resignation.

Haha I'm sorry I had to laugh, you shouldn't call people out for 'acting superior' and then type this

I'm sorry x34 but this is truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen.  I think you should be able to just laugh about it.  I remember, when I first learned chess, I played this one Cuban man who used the four move checkmate (or its variations) against me every game until I learned defense against it.  Then people started getting multiple Queens on me... just learn to laugh it off (and train to beat them later!)

It is indeed a fantastic joke. Imagine now that you hear it for a hundredth (thousandth?) time. Is it still funny? Would you believe that some people find it distasteful? And if you do- recall now that the rules of chess require players to play out the joke to the end- or forfeit the game. To me, it is not very different from spitting...

mrnchess1994

why is it unsportsman like? Is he supposed resign a won game, or off a draw. Seriously...

I totally agree. You AGREED to the onslaught!!!!!!!!!

Quite crying. You are just mad it wasn't the other way around!!!

ICWIENER

First of all why did you play 38. Kh6 and let him move into your territory and eat all your pawns?! Unsportsmanlike? I don't think so if anything you should be resigning, he is just letting you suffer.

Vlad_Akselrod

Indeed very unsportsmanlike - one needs to know when to resign. It shows your class, by the way.

texaspete

I think you should take it as a complement.

You were ranked 526 points below your opponent, and the game was completely even until move 24.

Your opponent needed to reassert his "superiority" after you played such a good game, and pushed him all the way. You didn't resign when it was clear you had lost, so not many grounds for complaint - you wanted the game to continue in the face of this punishment.

But look positively. That was a really good game from you. 6. ...Qh5+ would have won a pawn. 24. ...hxg4 25. Qxg4 Raf8 probably kept you in it. No obvious breakthrough for white, but a good defence of g6 would be required. A couple of small blunders before that (pawn losing), but no more than your opponent made. Be proud of how you coped with a high-ranked opponent, instead of angry at what happened long after the game was lost.

ScottM84

I would assume that anyone with his rating would know how to mate K+Q v. K, so I don't think there was really any hope for a draw. Besides, even if he didn't, it's ridiculously easy after the second queen. It's a simple steamroller mate then.

I agree with the other posters that said that not resigning was the unsportsmanlike action. It's a waste of the opponent's time continuing in such a position.

It's a funny joke to make people who don't resign till mate get mad, since usually it's the other way around. It's funnier to mate with like 6 knights though, or 3 dark and light squared bishops!
