I like both equally but tell me which is better

You’re 300 elo - you should probably be focussing on only one of the two moves so you gain some familiarity in positions

e4 is recommended to start getting familiar with this game and allows you to play different openings.

Wasn't meant to be a criticism - just advice from a higher rated player happy.png I play e4, as I enjoy the dynamic, aggressive positions one gets in the Sicilian or the King's gambit especially. I also have weapons against the caro-kann, Scandinavian, french and anything else that black can do, really. I find d4 games less interesting as they alwasy seem to be queen's gambit (interesting!), London or Dutch

e4 usually leads to more open positions with open lines for all the pieces, often leading to immediate tactical battles. d4 leads to more closed positions which tend to open up much later, meaning that the tactical battle comes a bit later, but it still does come, unless someone dominates strategically already

e4 is better.

1d4 is slightly better than 1e4. 1 c4 is about the same as 1d4. 1Nf3 is slightly better than those. They're the top 4 opening moves.

I always play the Staunton Gambit, 2. e4. It gives white good chances in an unbalanced and technically even game.
