Ok but all in all, don't just stop at 1800. (You knew that already). Shoot for the sky and make it!
1800 in Blitz

When you reach 1800 and get excited for 10 seconds, before you realize that 1800 is not really an accomplishment and now you have to go for 1900/2000. -.-

Well, if you are going to spend lot's of time on chess like I do, then I should strive to improve, otherwise, all the time I spent is useless.
You do things because you enjoy them. If the only thing you enjoy is seeing a number going up then this game is not for you. If you are enjoying life then the time spent is not useless.
I used to be worried about improving and crushing everyone, I stopped caring about it and just had fun, that is where I finally enjoyed chess and started really improving.

That's like saying oh, well school is pretty fun, idc if I get an F in every class, its just for fun.

1800 blitz is not bad. I remember when I (on my old account) was a ~1800 USCF player who thought 1800s were really strong players, and was ecstatic when I got 1800 there for the first time.
Now I feel bad when I score worse than 10-1 against them
Cherub I have question that I would like your input on but I will ask it on another topic.

No, most of the time school determines your life. Chess is just a game, at least for now.

I just recently crossed the 2000 mark USCF after a good tournament, but I'm only 1800s blitz here. I resign a lot due to kids, etc needing attention. That, and I'm not a consistent player at quick time controls. They're a lot of fun but I usually play purely on intuition, no planning, calculating, nothing. I dunno. I've always been pretty lousy at blitz/bullet.

It may no be "magnificent" but it's very fine! Congratulations on the accomplishment.

Oh boy... what happened to you in the past 16 months?
First you think 1500 is not thaat bad.. you have seen worse.. way worse.. Then it comes 1800 you think how much hard it was to reach it and you feel so much stronger now.. wayy better than those patzers.. but then.. you see 1800 is nothing special.. you still make silly mistakes and you dont know that much about chess.. and you want 2000, because 2000 oh yes that is the real goal. It has the same first digit that Masters and even GMs have... You dream dream.. and one day yes i am 2000!!!.. feeling the power.. you can play and some times defeat a master.. soo great.. but.. yet you are so high rated but same time.. so low rated.. title is so close and yet soo far away.. you are still nobody in chess.. You put so much time and energy and for what.. some 1800 can still steal a game from you even lower rated.... Then you have wished you were still that 1500 rated that enjoyed so much chess , but now you have to play by rules.. some memorized openings.. no more fun stuff...
That is one of the reasons why I am not that willing to put effort into getting better at chess. When I was 1700 blitz I beated 2 players around 2000 blitz and I know that I will have to put a lot of effort in order to reach 2000 and then I will still lose games here and there to 1700s who just play for fun.
It's the same for every level of chess. I'm 2200 here and all I want is to reach 2300
But do you think 2200 gameplay is trash and are you dissapointed at 2200 gameplay? I ask because I always thought 1800 blitz is where the real chess starts, that's where good chess begins, that's when you can consider yourself a good chess player and now that I have reached 1800 blitz (I am 1840 blitz at the time of writing this comment) I feel like our gameplay is trash most of the time. I will continue my search and my goal to reach the level of chess that I think is good but the better I get the more goalpost seems to shift.

A blitz rating is relative to the players you play against, and who they play against. So an 1800 rating should place you around the 98th percentile meaning there aren’t that many players better than you regarding the blitz game of chess on this site.
With that being said, I believe it’s much better than “good” taking into account you’re in the top 2% for the site.
My argument does not take into consideration other sites or rating systems.
