A friend told me of a chess tournament (possibly in 1912) where the organizers decided to hold a single game with two teams of grandmasters playing. Each team had 3 grandmasters and they would jointly decide on each move.
The thought was this would be the best chess game ever... afer all, there were 6 grandmasters involved... instead it turned out to be one of the worst.
Does anyone know if this story is true? Do you have any references for it or corrections to what I was told?
