Hello alltogether,

today has the day i worked for 1,5 years finally arrived. What a joyfull day. I set the sails to reach 2000 for 1,5 years ago and started to play (and train for) Rapidchess since then. What a ride. Up and down and up again. I started at around 1550 and finally its done. Thanks to all the people that i played against. I played a few obvious cheaters but the vast majority of players here played fair. Thanks to everyone here keeping this a fair game. As Magnus Carlsen once said one shouldn`t use too much time on chess unless you can be one of the best players in the world. Well i am soon 60 and i guess i have seen my best days. As you can see from my avatar i am dong quite well for a 60 year old and yes i am not Benjamin Button . Fun aside that is my now 17 year old son as a toddler. So now new challenges await as i will dig up my violine again Thanks to all of you who played against me it was much fun meeting you either winning or loosing (i have to admit winning tastes better but loosing helps to improve) . Best of luck to all of you whatever goals you may have and enjoy the ride as much as i did. Do not despair when you have a loosing streak which i had a lot of, but take it as a chance to get better, even if you have to regain 100-200 points again and again. Cheers stats

And last but not least i want to thank ChesswithAkeem, IM Alex Banzea and Daniel Naroditsky!! Studying their You tube videos helped tremendously.

Congrats! Reaching 2000 is very impressive. I would love to reach 2000 someday as well. So I would like to ask something. Is it necessary to memorize long lines of theory to reach 2000? Or is sharpening tactics, positional, and fundamental chess principles enough to get there?
